Am I in SOAR?
You are in Project SOAR II if you were a 7th grade student in the Oakland Unified School District in 2005-06 and are projected to graduate high school in 2011. .

What type of activities will Project SOAR offer me?
Project SOAR offers classroom support, tutoring during lunchtime and after school, career fairs, summer programs, the Take Home Computer Program, Individual Student Plan (ISP), Student Intervention Plan, and more. Project SOAR also exposes students to college and post secondary opportunities by arranging field trips to colleges and universities and presenting other resources to help students make informed decisions.

Will Project SOAR provide money for college?
Project SOAR Advisory Board has established a "Dollars for Scholars Program."
Project SOAR will help provide parents with information regarding scholarship opportunities and support the parents during the application process.
What is the best way I can get involved as a parent?
The best way to get involved as a parent is to help foster a positive learning environment for your child and by participating in school and SOAR events as well as workshops and conferences. In addition, parents are strongly encouraged to work closely with teachers and counselors and take an active role in their child's education.

What are the goals of the after school tutoring programs?
Project SOAR is committed to increasing the academic performance of our cohort and preparing these students to pass the High School Exit Exam.
What does Project SOAR bring to my classroom/campus that differs from other programs?
Project SOAR will bring a "college going culture" as well as offer an extensive tutorial component consisting of classroom tutoring, tutoring during lunch periods and a comprehensive after school Independent Study Program. Tutors offer assistance in all core subjects with a focus on reading, math and writing.
We also provide 1on 1 student advisement on college and career planning and have developed a comprehensive intervention program to assist students with academic support.
